A pale, almost icy white ground dominates the lower half of this abstract artwork, while the upper area is crowded with fragments of colour and texture that appear partially buried beneath the surface.
Running from top to bottom are a series of narrow, vertical red bands. They vary slightly in width and spacing and appear striated, as if formed by repeated scraping or dragging through layers of paint. These bands create a beautiful appearance -like a stand of slender tree trunks.
Between and around these vertical elements, glimpses of colour emerge from the scraped surface: deep blues, bright greens and earthy reds. These colours appear in irregular patches and broken shapes, suggesting that many earlier layers have been cut back to reveal fragments of previous marks and structures.
