Peter Osborne -Veteran Copyist

Peter Osborne specialises in copies of old master and abstract works, everything from the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers to modern paintings by the likes of Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning. In the 1960’s Peter attended Walthamstow School of Art which was then in its heyday. The artist Peter Blake along with other Royal Academicians Fred Cuming and Ken Howard taught there at the time. On leaving Peter worked in a commercial art studio and then for artist agents Artist Partners. Peter went freelance as an illustrator both in publishing and advertising for many years. As illustration became less widely used commercially, he sought commissions as a painter and mural artist. Peter was asked to paint The Bathers by Cezanne and the word got out! He was then commissioned to paint a Bridget Riley and it went from there. It is a laborious process as he copies brush stroke to brush stroke and in the size of the original painting. Peter is happy to paint commissions too!
