Originally trained as an abstract painter, Paul Powis discovered his enduring passion for landscape soon after relocating from London to the rolling countryside of Worcestershire. This shift in environment transformed his artistic vision - Leading to a fusion of abstraction and representation that has since defined his celebrated career. Today, Paul is an internationally acclaimed artist, with collectors across America, Japan, and Europe. His vivid, light-filled compositions are instantly recognizable for their bold use of colour and expressive brushwork. Each painting captures the essence of place not through literal depiction, but through the emotional charge of colour and form. Paul’s landscapes often emerge from the quiet mornings or late afternoon, when long shadows stretch across fields and hills. He combines strong, structured compositions with colour to create landscapes that feel both real and imagined. Beyond the studio, Paul’s work has found a wide audience through publishing and design, appearing as limited edition silkscreen prints. His paintings are also on permanent display at a John Lewis’s restaurant in Bristol and aboard the Queen Mary II. Married to fellow artist Sara Hayward, Paul continues to explore the expressive possibilities of landscape — translating light, colour, and movement into vibrant visual poetry.
