Linda Charles is an artist from the South-East of England, she attended Herriot Watt University in Scotland and studied textiles and fashion. Linda was drawing and designing from a very early age, this led to a successful career in the arts. Looking at Linda’s artwork it is easy to tell that she has experience in design, she incorporates heavy texture using materials such as gold and silver leaf and creates beautiful patterns using multiple forms of mixed media. Linda’s newer work is in a pulp fiction style, she incorporates music into this- she uses song titles and lyrics with imagery from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Linda likes the idea of combining elements of classic songs with the look of old paperback books. Music has always been an important part of Linda’s creative process, she listens to music in her studio while painting to feel inspired. The first one Linda came across was an image of a woman running from headlights, ‘Born to Run’ by Bruce Springsteen immediately played in her head, and the concept was born! In the early 2000’s Linda was one of the most renowned abstract artists in the UK, her work is owned by collectors across the country.
