Jimmy Law is widely recognized for his striking portraits, characterized by sharp contrasts and bold compositions. After spending several years as a graphic designer and illustrator, he transitioned to full-time painting, dedicating himself to his craft. In 2008, Jimmy underwent a dramatic shift in his artistic approach, moving away from his photorealistic style to embrace a technique defined by bold, sweeping brushstrokes. His signature style focuses on the expression of his characters, capturing a balance of strength and softness. His paintings are intricate and emotionally charged, making them impossible to look away from. A master of light and depth, Jimmy uses abstract brushstrokes to convey an almost hyper-realistic quality. During the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, Jimmy began creating his first astronaut-themed artworks. These pieces, produced in a more realistic style, often blended astronauts with elements of nature, such as animals. He believes the isolation and vulnerability experienced by the world during this time had a subconscious influence on the creation of these conceptual works.
