Jean Picton

Jean Picton has had quite the interesting life, in 1954 she was invited to become a Windmill Girl at the iconic Windmill Theatre in the West End of London, during her time there she worked with British icons such as Bruce Forsyth and Harry Secombe. After her time in London she was invited to go to New York to be the British cabaret act in venues and TV shows. In the 1980’s Jean returned to the UK and did more TV work on shows such as Eastenders and Hi-de-hi. In the 1990’s she retired from show business and decided to take up painting, she quickly realised she had quite the talent for it. Jean went to university and achieved a BA degree in Fine Art. As a full-time artist, Jean paints abstracts, often with a floral feel to it: “I feel my work is more about “painting” than “flowers”. The subject matter is just a means to explore the skill of tonal values, composition and the drawn line.” Jean is now an international artist, selling her work all around the world. Jean is available for commissions through IIF Gallery.
