Daphne Stephenson is an internationally recognised Primitive Naïve artist whose distinctive paintings have earned acclaim from collectors around the world. Her work is held in private collections across the globe, including a significant collection of fourteen paintings owned by Debby Brice of Lehman Brothers in the Bahamas. Her collectors also include individuals associated with leading financial institutions such as JPMorgan and ING Bank. From an early age, Daphne has been captivated by exotic tropical landscapes, lush vegetation, majestic palm trees, leopards, and the vibrant beauty of birds of paradise. Her artistic vision is deeply influenced by her childhood in Pakistan, family holidays in Kashmir, and extensive travels through India and Africa during her late teens. These experiences continue to shape the rich colours, patterns, and storytelling found throughout her work. More recently, time spent in Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Seychelles, and Jamaica has further enriched her artistic style. Drawing inspiration from the unique character and culture of each destination, Daphne creates paintings that combine warmth, charm, wit, and sophistication with a joyful celebration of nature and colour. Alongside her fine art career, Daphne has enjoyed a successful career in design, creating scarves and ties for a number of established companies and serving as an in-house designer for Halcyon Days at their Bond Street headquarters in London. A lifelong creative entrepreneur, Daphne has also launched several of her own design ventures, producing handcrafted belts, hand-painted shoe trees, decorative matchboxes, and flamboyant lamps made from carefully curated vintage and found objects. Alongside these creative pursuits, she has shared her passion for art through many years of teaching.
