Alexander Rhys

Alexander Rhys sees the world in vibrancy, which is reflected through his iridescent, narrative artworks. He experiments with visual elements such as bold colour, pattern and texture, and the ways in which stylistic choices can tell a story. Rhys is well travelled so has an open-minded view of the world, which shines through his artistry, presenting global cultural influences that draws on the contrast of natural and man-made objects, urban and rural settings, and eastern and western methods of art. Working first with acrylics which he uses as a tool to build up the layered texture, Rhys then moves on to spray cans which introduce a sense of freedom and unpredictability, taking his everyday subjects on a journey from ordinary to the extraordinary. The impact of his works is heightened by his use of a vivid palette and the inclusion of metallic golds and silvers gives a richness to the overall composition. Rhys studied Fine Art at Birmingham and Bath Spa University and since 2017, his work has been sold and published across Europe including London, Paris and Amsterdam. He has also sold in New York, LA, Chicago and Japan. He has built up an impressive list of collectors in this time, and his work has been exhibited at The Saatchi Gallery. Alexander Rhys is dedicated to making a difference in the art world and using art to advocate for and help those in need. He was named as the Prince’s (now King’s) Trust Young Ambassador of the Year, and met with British Prime Minister to discuss how art can be used to help fight crime and how it can have a positive effect on people’s lives.
